AI Tools

An AI technology capable of identifying and understanding human speech using advanced algorithms and machine learning.

It recognizes distinct voices and interprets verbal commands, facilitating natural human-machine interactions.

Generative AI is also emerging as a tool for enhancing accessibility in virtual medical education through speech recognition and NLP algorithms. In 2024, Chheang et al. experimented with predictive and generative AI-based virtual assistants in anatomy education, employing chatbots to generate engaging conversations and content for students (Chheang et al. 2024). This approach proved effective in providing direct answers and enhancing student performance in answering questions requiring low cognitive complexity.

Chheang, Vuthea, Shayla Sharmin, Rommy Márquez-Hernández, Megha Patel, Danush Rajasekaran, Gavin Caulfield, Behdokht Kiafar, Jicheng Li, Pinar Kullu, and Roghayeh Leila Barmaki. 2024. “Towards Anatomy Education with Generative AI-Based Virtual Assistants in Immersive Virtual Reality Environments.” In 2024 IEEE International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and eXtended and Virtual Reality (AIxVR), 21–30.
